Two small earthquakes shook the Wairarapa yesterday afternoon and this morning.
The first, measuring 3.6 on the Richter scale, hit around 4.40pm yesterday, and was centred 20km northeast of Pongaroa, in northern Wairarapa, at a depth of 15km.
It was felt in Dannevirke.
The second -- a magnitude 3.8 quake -- came at 8.01am today and was sited about 10km west of Castlepoint, in southern Wairarapa, at a depth of 30km and was felt as far afield as Masterton.
