Three people have been arrested after two police officers were punched, kicked and bitten as they tried to break up a domestic incident in Dunedin overnight.
The two male officers suffered concussions and are now recovering at home, following the incident on David Street about 11.50pm yesterday, said Sergeant Dave Scott.
"This is a situation where two constables have been out serving their community and have been assaulted and injured for doing their job. It is senseless and disgusting."
The officers were able to pepper spray the trio and a 22-year-old woman, and two men, aged 26 and 20, all from Dunedin, had been arrested.
The trio face charges including assault, threatening to kill, obstructing police and resisting arrest.
