KEY POINTS:
The two people accused of abducting a Hamilton boy from outside the public library two years ago have pleaded guilty.
The boy's grandfather Dick Headley and mother Kay Skelton were in the High Court at Hamilton today where the prosecution case was due to open.
The boy cannot be named because of legal reasons.
The judge said the pair had saved the case from going to trial where the boy was to be a Crown witness.
The pair were remanded on bail and will reappear for sentencing on December 18 at the Hamilton High Court.
Defence counsel Barry Hart told waiting reporters outside court that he would be applying for a non-custodial sentence.
The trial was delayed yesterday because of a legal argument.
Family friend Nikala Taylor pleaded guilty last week to his abduction and will be sentenced later.
In August last year, Jeremy Owen Daly and Tania Carol Thomason were jailed for 10 months for unlawfully detaining the boy at their home in Matauri Bay in Northland.
