Two people have been transported to hospital following a two-car crash in Canterbury.
Fire and emergency services were alerted to a head-on collision on Mairaki Rd, in Fernside, just before 7pm.
A police spokeswoman said one person has been transported to hospital with serious injuries, while fire services were working on cutting another person out of a second vehicle.
A St John spokesman said three ambulances were sent to the scene and two patients had been transported to Christchurch Hospital, one in a moderate condition and the other in a serious condition.
A fire spokesman confirmed it send two appliances to the scene, and crews worked to extricate one person from a vehicle.
