Two people have been injured in a head-on collision on a country road.
At about 12.06pm a crash in Otago's Gibbston Valley, near the Kawarau Bridge, was reported to police.
The Fire Service had two appliances at the scene at 1.30pm, helping to clean up wreckage.
Southern District Police said traffic could be delayed for another hour on State Highway 6.
Police at the Southern district command centre said officers were still at the scene just after 1.30pm and it was not yet clear how badly injured the affected people were.
