Two people have been taken to hospital after shots were fired in suburban Christchurch tonight.
St John Ambulance spokesman Ian Henderson said the two suffered moderate injuries and were at Christchurch Hospital's emergency department.
Police have cordoned off the area around Wadhurst Place, Burnside, after several shots were fired around 9pm.
Sergeant Lindsay Turner said earlier a number of house windows had been hit but no people had come under fire.
The shooter was believed to be armed with a shotgun.
