Two people have drowned and rescue workers are searching for a third person who was reportedly in trouble in the water near Maunganui Bluff in Northland.
The swimmers drowned at around 2pm this afternoon.
Northland's Electricity Rescue Helicopter operations manager Dean Voelkerling said a rescue crew landed at the Maunganui Bluff beach 20 minutes ago and are carrying out a search of the area.
