Two off-duty detectives appeared in Pukekohe District Court today as a result of their alleged behaviour after a night's drinking on New Year's Day.
One officer, 44, faced a charge of offensive behaviour after allegedly exposing himself to a woman and her 11-year-old son.
The second officer, 38, faced a charge of disorderly behaviour.
Both men were remanded at large to reappear on April 21.
The charges were laid after the two accused allegedly approached the woman while she was sitting in a car with her son and demanded her name and address.
She refused to give it those details to them.
They have been placed on restricted duties since the incident.
The Independent Police Conduct Authority has also started an inquiry.
