Head-on car accidents claimed two lives yesterday.
Apprentice builder Hayden Bradshaw, 19, died when his car and another vehicle collided on the Glenbrook-Waiuku Rd at Glenbrook about 1am.
A family, including two children aged five and eight, were travelling in the other vehicle, said Constable Steve Carey, of the Counties Manukau police serious crash team.
Mr Carey said an investigation was continuing, but speed did not appear to be a factor.
The children and their mother were not injured, but the father had to be cut free of the wreckage and suffered a serious leg injury.
Police were also investigating a head-on collision on Cove Rd, Waipu, which happened about 11am.
A 41-year-old man died at the scene, said Sergeant John Miller, of the Ruakaka police.
His name is expected to be made known today.
A 57-year-old woman driving the other vehicle was taken to hospital suffering from minor injuries.
Meanwhile, three young women were injured after their car rolled on State Highway 50 near Onga Onga, on the way to Palmerston North. One was seriously hurt while the other two suffered moderate injuries.
