Two moderate quakes strike South Island

The moderate quake, which was 24km deep, jolted Kaikoura just before 7:15pm.

Two moderate aftershocks have rattled the upper South Island tonight.

A 4.1 earthquake hit 10 km north-west of Kaikoura, at depth of 24km just before 7:15pm.

Then a 4.3 shake jolted Seddon about 10.50pm. It struck 25km south of the town at a depth of 32km.
