Rescuers have saved two men from the Firth of Thames after their dinghy capsized while trying to disloge fishing line.
While dislodging a kontiki, the dinghy overturned, sending the two men, who were not wearing lifejackets, into the water yesterday afternoon.
"The men began waving the red flag attached to the kontiki and were spotted by the National Park Ranger who proceeded to call 111," according to the Auckland Westpac Rescue Helicopter.
A kayaker paddled out to the pair and stayed with them until the helicopter arrived shortly before 1.30pm.
