Two men will appear in Rotorua District Court charged with kidnapping after a man was allegedly assaulted and locked in a car boot on the weekend.
Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Loper, of Rotorua CIB, said two Rotorua men, aged 22 and 25, were arrested following at least four search warrants executed in the city this morning.
Police reported yesterday that the injured 28-year-old man walked into a service station just after 10am on Sunday, after escaping from the boot of a vehicle.
He had been bound, and appeared to have been assaulted over several hours.
Inquiries were continuing regarding the circumstances surrounding the incident and the identification of others who may have been involved, Mr Loper said.
