Two men are due in the Dunedin District Court today over an attack on shearers quarters in the Otago town of Milton.
A number of calls were made to police about 1am yesterday reporting a murder and stabbing.
On entering the property in Arthur St, police found no-one was seriously injured and the offenders had fled the scene.
Residents had been assaulted and threatened with knives and a baseball bat, windows had been smashed and a vehicle was damaged.
A 29-year-old man and a 31-year-old man both face charges of threatening to kill and assault.
