Two men have claimed they were driving a vehicle involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash in South Auckland early on Saturday.
Michael Doyle, 51, of Otahuhu, died when the bus shelter he was sitting at on Massey Rd, Mangere, was struck by a car about 6am.
The vehicle sped off but was traced to a nearby address, where two men who claimed to have been the driver were arrested and given blood-alcohol tests. They were expected to face a number of charges.
Another person killed in a weekend crash has been named. He was Dayle Aiden Eynon, 35, of Whitianga, who died when the light truck he was driving ran into the back of a stationary horse float.
