KEY POINTS:
Two Selwyn men charged with killing pet ducks were remanded at Christchurch District Court today.
Leeston man David William Harold Henderson, 21, unemployed, and Jan Pander, 20, a heavy truck driver of Southbridge, are jointly charged wilful ill-treatment of the animals, the Christchurch Court News website reported.
The police alleged they killed the ducks by running them over in a motor vehicle on February 14.
They were both granted registrar's remands to appear in court on March 6.
Both men are also charged with wantonly and maliciously using a telephone the same day to offend a man.
Mr Henderson is also charged with destroying cactus plants belonging to the man they allegedly telephoned.
They were remanded on bail to apply for legal aid.
