Two men arrested for Hastings home invasion

Police have today arrested two men in connection to a home invasion in Hastings yesterday.

Two men brandishing weapons woke up the occupants of a household on Pakowhai Road at 2.50am, demanding the keys to their vehicle, before driving off with a 2001 blue Range Rover.

Detective Lisa Tod said the men took the vehicle on a joyride knocking over rubbish bins while driving around Flaxmere and Havelock North for several hours.

The men then abandoned the vehicle outside the Hastings water adventure centre Splash Planet carpark.

Police executed five search warrants in the area, before making the two arrests.

Ms Tod said a 22-year-old man will appear at Hastings District Court on charges relating to the home invasion. He is currently remanded in custody.

A 25-year-old man will appear in court tomorrow on the same charges.
