A Northland husband is accused of bashing a quad bike driver who forced his wife and five children off the road and into a ditch.
Sergeant Nira Kingi of Whangarei police said a Maungakaramea man was arrested last night and charged with injuring with intent to injure, unlawfully taking a motor vehicle and driving while disqualified, following an earlier incident on Ormandy Rd, Maungakaramea.
He said about 4pm yesterday a woman was driving down Ormandy Rd with five children in her vehicle while a man was driving a quad bike on the road in a dangerous manner.
Mr Kingi said the man's driving forced the woman's vehicle off the road and into a ditch.
The woman drove to her nearby home and told her partner what had happened. A short time later the man on the quad bike drove down the road again and the woman's partner followed the man to his home.
