Two Wairarapa players have been named in the Central Districts under-15 boys cricket team to play in a tournament in Rotorua at the end of this month.
Daniel Ingham from Wairarapa College and Jamie Holmes from Rathkeale College are part of a side which will play three two-day matches against Northern Districts, Auckland and Wellington.
Their selection is a just reward for some consistent performances with both bat and ball for the Wairarapa under-15 boys team which has won all but one of the seven matches they have played so far this season.
The only blot on their record was a surprise one wicket loss to Horowhenua-Kapiti in a low scoring match at the Central Districts tourney played at Rathkeale last month a defeat which was followed by an impressive effort against Marlborough in what was a game dominated by the bat.
Marlborough ran up a healthy 227 in their 50 overs despite some splendid bowling by Oliver Burt whose nine overs realised five wickets for just 25 runs.
Quenten McKenna with 3-68 from 11 overs also tasted his share of success.
Rain halted the Wairarapa reply after 42 overs with their score at 213-6 but not before Ingham had shown his batting skills by making 129 off 103 balls.
He displayed his full array of strokes in an outstanding knock which guaranteed Wairarapa the victory on a countback basis.

The Wairarapa team have two further matches next month, the first against Manawatu and the second against Taranaki.
Meanwhile, the Queen Elizabeth Park Oval strip in Masterton is going to be put to the test over the next week.
From tomorrow through to Sunday it will be the venue of the Hawke Cup qualifying and Chapple Cup fixtures between the Wairarapa and Taranaki senior men's teams and then from next Tuesday through until Thursday it will host a provincial A match between Central Districts and Wellington.
Taranaki are the current Hawke Cup holders and as such will be favoured to beat a young Wairarapa side who started their Hawke Cup campaign with an outright win over Wanganui last month before losing by eight wickets to Manawatu.
Whatever the end result though there is little doubt that Wairarapa should provide their supporters a fair measure of entertainment, particularly on the batting front where players like skipper Sam Curtis, Brock Price, Seth Rance and the Andersons, Robbie and Jeremy, are exciting stroke makers when in full flight.
Curtis is the sole Wairarapa representative in the Central Districts A line-up to play Wellington in the first round of a tournament which features players on the verge of selection in their province's State championship sides.
He will very probably bat in his accustomed role of opener.
The full Central Districts A squad is: Scott Baldwin (captain), Sam Curtis, Jarred Cunningham, James de Terte, Mark Gardiner, Greg Hegglun, Tom Lance, Mitchell McClenaghan, Luke Murray, Nick Phelps, Kurt Richards, George Worker.
