A 28-year-old killed when his car hit a tree in Manawatu early on Saturday was one of two men to die on the roads at the weekend.
Luke Porter-Graham, of Bulls, died when his car left the road in damp conditions and slammed into a large tree about 5km west of Bulls at 12.40am.
His passenger was injured and was taken to Palmerston North Hospital.
Later on Saturday, a 41-year-old man died instantly when his motorcycle and a six-tonne truck collided near Awatoto on the outskirts of Napier about 12.30pm.
The four people in the truck were unhurt but police described them as extremely distraught.
