Two injured in Rakaia Bridge crash

Two people have been injured in a serious crash on the Rakaia Bridge in south Canterbury.

One has been taken to Ashburton Hospital in a moderate condition, while the other has been flown to Christchurch Hospital in a serious condition following the two-car crash, which briefly closed the bridge on State Highway 1.

Both lanes of the bridge were expected to reopen around 9.30am.
