Two injured in Northland crash

A child and an elderly man have been injured in a serious crash in Whangarei this afternoon.

Emergency services were at the scene of the two-car crash on State Highway 1, near the Apotu Road intersection, police said.

The man was in a critical condition, while the child was reported to be bleeding from the head.

The road was blocked in both directions and traffic was being diverted.
