One of two female occupants of a hatchback car was flown to Wellington Hospital with serious injuries after the vehicle left the road near Masterton just after 3pm today.
The other woman involved in the crash - on the southern approach to the Opaki Bridge - was taken to Wairarapa Hospital by ambulance.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash. Cars were detoured for several hours while police examined the crash scene.
