Two people have been hospitalised after a single-vehicle crash in Canterbury this morning.
One person was initially trapped in the car after it ran off the road and hit a tree on Rhodes Road in Tai Tapu, 16km southwest of Christchurch, about 7.30am.
Another person was thrown clear of the vehicle.
Police southern communications spokesman Sergeant Lindsay Turner said two people were injured and had been taken to hospital.
The scene would be cleared by 10am, he said.
