Two injured in Ashburton crash

Police and emergency services are dealing with a serious road crash just south of Hinds in Ashburton District.

Police say State Highway 1 is closed and diversions are in place.

They say the crash appears to have been a three-vehicle nose to tail accident, involving two cars and a NZ Defence Force truck.

Two people have been airlifted to Christchurch Hospital.
