Two people have been airlifted out of a central North Island forest park after they were injured during a motocross off-road event.
BayTrust Rescue Helicopter chief pilot Barry Vincent said the patients had to be ferried out of the area by air due to problems reaching the crash site.
The incident at the remote Kaimanawa Forest Park location off the Napier-Taupo highway happened about 3pm.
An ambulance spokesperson said one patient was taken by road to Taupo Hospital and the other was flown to Rotorua Hospital for treatment.
Both had moderate injuries.
