Two injured as police car smashes into power pole

Two police officers are in Masterton Hospital with minor injuries after their vehicle crashed into a power pole this afternoon.

The officers were travelling in a convoy of police vehicles heading to Wairarapa for an armed offenders squad training exercise when they crashed into the power pole north of Greytown about 3.30pm, police said.

The police serious crash unit was investigating and the officers were expected to be released from hospital tonight.

A third officer in the vehicle was not injured.
