KEY POINTS:
Two people are in hospital following an early morning crash between a car and truck on State Highway Two, north of Tauranga.
The accident happened at around 5am near the Whakamarama Caltex petrol station. Both vehicles ended up off the road, with some debris strewn on the roadway.
One person, believed to be the driver of the truck, was taken to Tauranga Hospital with serious injuries. The other driver had moderate injuries.
Police and road crews are at the scene investigating and a reduced speed limit is in place.
