Two men are in custody after armed police cordoned off a street in the Auckland suburb of Glenfield today.
In a police press release from 1.30pm, Auckland police spokeswoman Noreen Hegarty said a search warrant was executed early this afternoon by the Auckland Organised Crime Unit supported by the Armed Offenders Squad.
Three men and two women were initially taken into custody but both women and one of the men have since been released.
One man has been arrested on drugs charges and another, a 32-year-old who was wanted by police, is being interviewed by arresting officers.
Police will not confirm the man is 32-year-old fugitive Daniel Vae, but said they were "no longer seeking his whereabouts".
At about 12.25pm, five Armed Offenders Squad (AOS) officers with a police dog went into the house on the corner of Waverley Avenue and Kaipatiki Road, near the Glenfield Mall.
At least two AOS vehicles, three unmarked police cars and one patrol car were in attendance.
Police said two other adults and a baby were present at the time. No shots were fired and the property is now being searched by police.
Residents living nearby said Vae had "been there for ages".
Police last week said Vae was wanted on three arrest warrants.
Police raided a home in Grey Lynn's Castle St on Thursday, firing tear gas and breaking windows.
Aliitasi Vae said they were woken up at 6.30am by police shouting. She said family members told police that Vae was not home but police ordered them out and then fired the teargas.
A 29-year-old man was arrested and charged after an airgun and cannabis was found at the Castle St home.
While searching for Vae at another home in Mt Roskill, police found a silenced semi-automatic handgun, an illegally imported Taser, a bulletproof vest, methamphetamine gear and his gang patch.
