Two people were injured when their jet boat plunged 25m over the Waitaki Dam in north Otago early yesterday.
Police said the couple misjudged their approach to the dam, the boat hitting it bow first about 25km/h.
They and their dog were thrown over the dam, narrowly missing a concrete spillway.
A 32-year-old Oamaru man suffered minor injuries and a 33-year-old Dunedin woman was seriously injured. The dog was unhurt.
