KEY POINTS:
A search has been launched for two hunters missing in hill country near Wanganui.
Sergeant Tracy Patterson, of Wanganui, said the two men went for a day's hunting in Paparangi, north of Wanganui, yesterday but failed to return last night.
Four search parties had headed into the area, and had located some footprints, which were being tracked.
A helicopter would assist the search teams.
Both men were experienced with good survival skills, and searchers were confident they would find them safe and well, she said.
