Two Dunedin residents were taken to hospital with smoke inhalation following a fire in their central city house overnight.
Emergency services were called to the Pitt Street at 10.45pm where the blaze was "well involved'' when they arrived, said a fire communications spokesman.
Crews put the fire out and two people were transported to hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation, he said.
A fire investigator will be at the scene today to determine the cause.
