KEY POINTS:
Two people have been taken to hospital and four others were treated at the scene after chlorine was spilt at a North Shore swimming pool.
The Fire Service was called to the Takapuna Aquatic Centre about 3pm today after the chlorine was spilt, northern fire communications shift manager Colin Underdown said.
The complex had been evacuated by the time they arrived.
Four people were treated at the scene by ambulance officers and two others were taken to hospital after inhaling the fumes but were not believed to be seriously injured, Mr Underdown said.
"It was all going swimmingly until there was a spillage of chlorine."
The fire service was still at the scene to help ventilate the building and to check toxicity levels.
It was not known whether the chlorine was spilt in the pool or nearby.
