Police are continuing to examine a property near Motueka where the bodies of two sisters and their father were discovered yesterday.
The bodies of five-year-old Nikkita, and her six-year-old sister, Dominique Hingston, were found by their mother at a house in Riwaka yesterday morning.
Their 44-year-old father, Frank
Hingston, was found dead in a nearby shed on the property.
Police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths.
The mother found her dead children when she was collecting them after they had stayed the night with their father.
It is believed the parents had been separated less than a month.
Post mortems are scheduled for today, and police will continue investigating, aided by Nelson CIB and forensic staff.
Victim Support have been assisting the family of the deceased.
