Two people escaped with just minor injuries when the car they were in rolled onto rocks along the Firth of Thames this afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the scene on East Coast Rd at Whakatiwai at 2.42pm.
A police spokesman said there was initially a great deal of concern for the car's occupants because it rolled near to water and they were initially reported to be trapped.
However, they had managed to free themselves by the time emergency services arrived and had only minor injuries.
