Two suspicious fires in Dunedin over the weekend could be linked, police believe.
The first blaze, at Independent Tyre Specialists, in King Edward St, started about 3am on Saturday.
Less than an hour later, fire destroyed the premises of Japanese Auto Wreckers, near the harbour basin.
Both fires were started in piles of tyres outside the businesses and were possibly the work of the same offenders, said Detective Sergeant John Hedges, of Dunedin police.
He said investigators were keen to hear from anyone who might have seen suspicious activity near either business in the early hours of Saturday morning.
