The Government believes New Zealand drivers aren't ready to moderate their drinking. We know they are. So take responsibility for keeping our roads safe by signing up: Two Drinks Max.

This country's drink-driving limit is 80mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood - the same as Britain and the United States - but Australia and most of Europe use a limit of 50mg per 100ml, also referred to as a 0.05 limit.
Only Parliament can change the law. But we can help change attitudes. Our campaign will encourage people to regulate themselves, and to not drive if they've had more than two drinks.
Real Estate Agent Michael Boulgaris explains why he is supporting the Two Drinks Max campaign:
Do you support lowering the drink/drive limit to 50 mg?
I think it's a great idea. All of the reports on car crashes I read are
generally alcohol or speed related. People don't realise when they are
over the limit. I don't think people understand how many drinks they are allowed.
Do you pledge your name to the Herald on Sunday's Two Drinks Max campaign?
Yes absolutely.
What would you say to the politicians who decide drink drive limits?
Just look at the statistics. It's something that has to be addressed.
Have you had personal experience of drink driving accidents?
No but I do have a drink drive conviction, that is why I am so passionate about what you are trying to do.
What was that like?
It was a nightmare. It was very embarrassing. When you go overseas and they ask do you have a criminal record you don't know what to say. When you go to renew your insurance, your premium goes up. People have to realise the consequences. It's just frowned upon.
