Two people are dead after a crash in Waikato this afternoon.
Police were called to the scene of the two-car crash on State Highway 29 at Karapiro, southeast of Hamilton, about 4pm.
Two people died at the scene and four others were injured and taken to Waikato Hospital.
Police said they were in a stable condition.
It is understood one car was in a ditch and people had to be cut from the wreckage.
Diversions are in place from Totman Rd on State Highway 29 to the State Highway 1 intersection.
The serious crash unit is investigating.
