KEY POINTS:
Two men are dead after a car crash in Waikuku, 9km east of Rangiora, overnight.
Inspector Stuart Leighton of southern police communications said a fisherman discovered the vehicle at Geisha Road which runs along the bank of the Ashley River, at 6am.
He found the body of one man inside the vehicle, which had apparently rolled, while police found the body of the second victim nearby.
Both men appeared to be in their mid to late 20s and both appeared to have been dead for some time, Mr Leighton said.
Police were yet to identify the men.
He said no other vehicle appeared to be involved with the crash, but police were asking for help from anyone who may have seen anything in that area from yesterday evening onwards.
