Two cyclists were injured in a accident during a four-day bike race in Northland today.
Police said that one cyclist was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after crashing into a ditch and a second competitor received moderate injuries after skidding trying to avoid a collision.
The incident happened in Whangaruru, north of Whangarei, about 10am today while the competitors were on the final stage from Russell into Whangarei.
