Alcohol and speed appear to have been factors in a crash which left two people critically injured on Auckland's North Shore today, police say.
It appeared a car lost control as it was going up Albany Hill, Albany, and crashed into a rubbish truck which was heading down the hill, Constable Paul Hayward said.
The two occupants of the car were taken to North Shore Hospital where they are in a critical condition. They have yet to be identified.
The occupants of the truck were uninjured.
Mr Hayward said initial indications were that speed and alcohol contributed to the crash.
