Two crashes in SH2 'black spot'

A notorious stretch of State Highway 2 near Mangatawhiri was the scene of two accidents last evening.

Two vehicles, both of which were towing trailers, collided head-on around 6.45pm. Police say three people suffered minor to moderate injuries and a fourth very serious injury.

Approximatley an hour earlier a car and motorcycle collided in the same area.

State Highway 2 between Mangatawhiri and SH1 remained closed until 11pm.
