It is turning out to be a bad afternoon for Auckland commuters, as two motorway crashes near the central motorway junction disrupt traffic.
A container truck that has crashed has closed the north western motorway (State Highway 16) in both directions between Parnell Rise and Quay Street, near the waterfront.
And on the southern motorway (State Highway 1), a three-way crash between a bus, truck and car has blocked two north bound lanes between Gillies Avenue and Khyber Pass Road.
While that crash has been cleared and no-one has been hurt, traffic is backed up as far south as Otahuhu.
The New Zealand Transport Agency warns it will take some time for the congestion to clear.
