Two children suffered serious injuries when the ute they were in on a farm near Nelson rolled over on a hill, trapping them.
The children, aged 2 and 3, were airlifted by the Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter from the farm in the Tapawera-Baton area southwest of Nelson about 6.15pm.
The chopper crew flew to the farm with the aid of night-vision goggles
"The children were helping their father feed out hay to stock when the ute they were in rolled down a hill, trapping the children'' a rescue helicopter spokesperson said in a statement
"They both suffered serious injuries which were stabilised by the helicopter's onboard St John intensive care paramedic at the scene, with the assistance from ambulance, police and fire crews from Tapawera and Motueka.''
