Two children are in serious conditions in hospital after being hit by a car in New Plymouth yesterday.
The pair, a 12-year-old girl and a five-year-old boy, were struck while trying to cross through traffic on Mangorei Road about 4pm, the Taranaki Daily News reported.
Eyewitness Millie Clegg, 15, said she was walking home from school when she saw the accident.
"The car hit them pretty hard. They went up in the air," she said.
Both were taken to Taranaki Base Hospital by ambulance and were still in the intensive care unit this morning.
Police said it was unlikely charges would be laid.
