Former MP Tuku Morgan and Haydn Solomon will share Tainui's top job.
The pair secured the numbers to co-chair Tainui's fractious executive and tribal parliament at an executive meeting at Hopuhopu yesterday. The tribe's executive voted 7-5 to appoint the pair.
Mr Morgan will chair the social arm, Mr Solomon the commercial.
It is understood former chairman Kingi Porima - dumped last month - will continue as a member of the executive. He is likely to be replaced on the board of Tainui Group Holdings at next month's meeting.
