KEY POINTS:
Two men charged with raping two 14-year-old schoolgirls have been granted name suppression.
The men, aged 28 and 44, appeared in Palmerston North District Court yesterday and were remanded in custody.
The alleged rape took place at a Palmerston North hostel after the girls, in school uniform, were given alcohol and cannabis, The Dominion Post reports today.
Police swooped on the hostel on Thursday after a staff member heard a commotion in a room.
The manager rushed into the room, found the girls and "a uniform on the floor".
Police said a third teenager was with them but had not consumed as much alcohol and was not sexually violated.
The two 14 year-olds spent Thursday night in hospital and have been interviewed by police.
