Two charged with illegal street racing causing death

Two men have been charged with illegal street racing causing the death of a woman in west Auckland in May.

The men, aged 21 and 38, will face the charges when they appear in Waitakere District Court on Tuesday. The 21-year-old is also charged with failing to stop and give assistance at the scene of the crash.

The crash happened in the suburb of Glen Eden at the intersection of Awaroa Rd and Great North Rd about 6.35pm on May 7.

The woman, the sole occupant of her car, was taken to Auckland City Hospital but died on May 10.
