Hamilton police are investigating the deaths of two people after the bodies of a male and a female were found in a house in suburban Dinsdale late last night.
Police said they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths.
Detective Senior Sergeant Russell Le Prou said police believed the couple had died from gunshot wounds. A firearm was found near one of the bodies.
Post mortems are due to be done later today, Mr Le Prou said.
The names of the two people have not been released as they have not been formally identified yet.
Police and ESR forensics staff were at the house today examining the scene.
