Two bodies have been found at a Grey Lynn property in Auckland.
It is understood the bodies were discovered at Dryden Lodge in Grey Lynn at 3.15pm yesterday - police say they cannot comment on whether the case is related to missing actress Tania Ellwood.
Police said they were aware of the speculation as to the identities of the deceased, however as formal identification had not yet taken place they would not comment any further.
Formal identification procedures, along with post mortems would be carried out tomorrow and an update provided after that.
Upon arrival at the Grey Lynn address, police found two people dead and are now working to establish what happened.
Areas around Dryden Lodge are also cordoned off with police tape. Some residents have been evacuated.
Resident James Davidson has lived in the lodge for two years. He told the Herald he woke from an afternoon nap yesterday to find police everywhere.
He didn't know the people who had died but said a lot of the lodge residents had alcohol and drug issues.
Police had roped off an area that held a kitchen and single bedrooms, he said. A room at the lodge costs between $200 and $400, Davidson said.
Police could be seen in scrubs putting on face masks to enter the cordoned area.
A woman who works in an office a few doors down said police were often called to the lodge as it was a "colourful area". She wasn't surprised to hear of the double-death.
The landlord said that "my tenants have been through a lot" but declined to comment further.
The discovery of the bodies follows a police appeal to the public to help find missing 39-year-old Tania Ellwood, saying they are concerned for her safety.
Ellwood was last seen in Newmarket about 9.30am last Wednesday.
Police described Ellwood as being of slim to medium build, 166cm tall, with long blonde hair.
Asked if police were investigating whether the Grey Lynn discovery was connected with the Ellwood case, a spokesman earlier said: "There is no further update and we won't be making further comment at this time other than the statement provided."
Any further information was not expected until after a post-mortem examination and formal identification process had been completed.
Ellwood is believed to live around the Dominion Rd, Sandringham-Mt Eden area, and her parents are based in Newmarket-Remuera.
She last contacted family at 6pm last Tuesday , and it is said to be out of character for her not to be in contact with family.
A family member posted to Facebook on Tuesday saying: "We love you Tania and we will find you."
Ellwood is listed on StarNow as being an actor, hair stylist, makeup artist and fashion stylist. She had a brief stint on Shortland Street where she played a character called Mandy Timmins.
