KEY POINTS:
The tiny Bay of Plenty town of Te Puke has been struck by two separate bank robberies today.
Senior Sergeant Carl Purcell said one man had been taken into custody following a robbery at the ANZ Bank branch.
He said police did not believe it was linked to an earlier robbery at Te Puke's BNZ this morning.
A man has also been taken into custody in connection with the earlier incident and was helping police with inquiries.
Police were unable to provide further details on the robberies this afternoon.
Te Puke is a town of about 6700 people, 23km south east of Tauranga.
